Rome, August 1, 2025 – Società Gasdotti Italia (SGI) has signed an agreement with Edison Next, a company of the Edison Group whose mission is to support clients and territories in their decarbonization and ecological transition journey, for the acquisition of metering plants located in the province of Frosinone. The agreement aligns with the latest regulatory framework issued by ARERA (Article 7 of Resolution 512/2021/R/GAS), which provides the opportunity to transfer ownership of metering plants to the transmission operator in order to enhance their value within the new European gas context.
This is the first operation of its kind in the Italian gas transmission infrastructure sector. SGI thus confirms its ability to respond promptly and effectively to regulatory developments, further strengthening its role as an innovative and reliable operator. The plants will undergo a modernization plan aimed at improving metering performance, with positive impacts on the entire system.
“Being the first to conclude a transaction of this nature is a source of pride and responsibility,” said Raffaele Maiello, SGI’s Chief Operating Officer. “Thanks to our technical and operational expertise, we aim to enhance these strategic assets and make a tangible contribution to a gas system that is increasingly efficient, transparent, and aligned with the challenges of the energy transition.”
In the coming months, SGI plans to further expand its activity in acquiring metering plants, offering the sector its specialist expertise and an industrial vision focused on innovation and service quality.
