SGI, in partnership with AzzeroCO2, the start-up BioSyn and four research organisations (Pa.L.Mer, La Sapienza University and the Universities of Cassino and Tuscia), has launched the SINBIO project, funded by the Lazio Region’s “Strategic Projects – Green Economy Area” call.
SINBIO promotes the integrated design of processes for alternative fuels (e.g. biomethane and synthetic gases) and technologies for their injection and storage in the existing energy infrastructures, in accordance with national and international policies for the development of RES, the containment of climate-altering emissions, and the reduction of dependence on oil.
As part of the project, SGI, together with the University of Cassino, will be responsible for the design and modeling of a power-to-gas plant for the injection of synthetic gas into the transmission network in different configurations and installation settings.
The injection test will be carried out in the Frosinone Industrial Cluster area. It is the first field test of a wider program aimed at developing a range of solutions for the decarbonisation of high-temperature industrial processes based on renewable gases, which will allow this industrial entity to become a leading hub nationwide.
As part of the project, SGI, together with the University of Cassino, will design and model a Power to Gas plant for feeding synthetic gas to the transmission grid in different configuration and installation setups.
The power-to-grid pilot test will be carried out in the area of the Industrial Consortium of Frosinone and constitutes the first field trial of a range of solutions for the decarbonization of high-temperature industrial processes based on renewable gases and which may allow this industrial reality to apply as a cutting-edge pole at the national level.
